World Taiko Conference – Live Talk Session Topic 2: Taiko and Inclusivity
Many taiko players can attest that the physical and emotional effects of playing taiko often improves other areas of our lives. In an effort to share these benefits with people who have limited opportunities for taiko engagement, groups around the world are discovering effective and innovative methods of promoting inclusivity for individuals of all ages, backgrounds, genders, and abilities. This panel will feature groups who are overcoming accessibility barriers and connecting communities through shared taiko experiences.

Team Taiko 2021 Classes
Mondays, October & November 2021 Team Taiko is a community drumming experience based on the Japanese taiko drumming tradition. The classes are open to all skill levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned musicians, and class fees are based on a sliding scale. Taiko Artist Man Man Mui guides participants toward a repertoire of drumming techniques in sessions that include developing rhythmic sensibility, body awareness, strength training and making music together as a team.
